Coromandel Express Accident: CM Naveen Patnaik Expresses Grief; To Visit Accident Site Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to visit Balasore tomorrow morning to oversee the ongoing rescue operations at the site of a devastating railway accident involving three trains. Promptly responding to the situation, he swiftly arrived at the control room, where the team is diligently assessing the gravity of the incident.

Tragically, this evening in Balasore, Odisha, a passenger train collided with the derailed coaches of another train, resulting in the loss of over 50 lives and leaving around 300 individuals injured.

The catastrophic accident has raised concerns as many are still feared to be trapped amidst the wreckage. Additionally, a third freight train was also involved in the incident, further exacerbating the magnitude of the tragedy.

Addressing the reporters, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and conveyed that he had just conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the situation. Furthermore, he declared his intention to visit the accident site early tomorrow morning to personally oversee the rescue and relief efforts.

The trains involved in this harrowing mishap were identified as the 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and the 12864 Yashwantpur-Howrah Superfast Express. The Coromandel Express experienced the derailment of fifteen of its coaches, while two coaches of the Yashwantpur-Howrah Superfast Express were also derailed.
