Coromandel Express Accident: Railway Releases List of Trains Cancelled and Diverted

Balasore: The Coromandel Express train derailed in Balasore district, Odisha, resulting in a significant loss of life and injuries. As the rescue efforts continue, the Indian Railways have taken the decision to cancel several train services as a precautionary measure. The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, has directed key officials to coordinate the rescue operations and provide necessary assistance.

The Coromandel Express train accident has led to a distressing loss of lives, with approximately 50 people feared dead. Additionally, around 179 individuals have been reported injured in the incident. In response to this unfortunate event, the Indian Railways has decided to cancel several train services to ensure passenger safety.

The cancelled train services due to the Coromandel Express accident are as follows:

  1. 12837 (HWH-PURI SUPERFAST EXPICO-02.06.2023 CANCELLED)
  2. 12863 (HWH-SMVB SUF EXPRESS) JCO-02.06.2023 CANCELLED
  3. 12839 (HWH-MAS MAIL) JCO-02.06.2023 CANCELLED
  4. 12895(SHM-PURI S/F) JCO-02.06.2023 CANCELLED
  5. 20831(SHM-SBP EXPRESS) JCO-02.06.2023 CANCELLED
  6. 02837 (SRC-PURI EXPRESS) JCO-02.06.2023 CANCELLED
  7. Goa to Mumbai Vande Bharat Express

To ensure smooth operations, several trains have been diverted as a result of the incident:

  1. 22807 CONTROL AT BCK FROM 21.10 DIVERTED VIA -TATA
  2. 22873 CONTROL AT PKU FROM 19.56 HRS DIVERTED VIA TATA
  3. 18409 CONTROL AT ULB FROM 20.10 HRS DIVERTED VIA TATA
  4. 22817 CONTROL AT 21.12 HRS POWER TO BE REVERSED & DIVERTED VIA TATA.
  5. 15929 CONTROL AT RNTL 19.32 HRS TO BE RETURNED BACK TO BHC

In the ongoing search and rescue operations, additional support has been dispatched to the accident site. The Odisha Fire and Emergency Service have sent a specialized team of 26 members equipped with advanced rescue equipment from the Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Academy in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been closely monitoring the situation and visited the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) control room to assess the relief operations following the train derailment. Expressing his condolences, the Chief Minister stated, “I have just reviewed the situation about this truly tragic railway accident. I will be visiting the spot tomorrow morning.”
