Odisha Vigilance Unearths Over Rs 1 Cr Cash Belonging to Addl Director

Bhubaneswar: Odisha vigilance unearthed over Rs one Crore cash, one multi-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, 3 buildings at Keonjhar and 5 plots in a prime area at Keonjhar so far during searches on the properties of a senior official of the Directorate of Mines, Bhubaneswar.

The accused was identified as Umesh Chandra Jena, the Additional Director of the Directorate of Mines.

The vigilance sleuths have also unearthed approximately 650 gms of gold jewellery, 1 four-wheeler (Verna Car), 2 two-wheelers, bank, insurance and other deposits/investments during the searches.

On receiving information about the possession of disproportionate assets, Vigilance launched simultaneous house searches on his properties at 13 places in Khordha and Keonjhar districts.

Over 13 teams of the Vigilance led by 10 DSPs, 7 Inspectors and other staff conducted the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Searches are still underway.
