PM Modi Returns to Work a Few Hours after Mother’s Demise

New Delhi: A few hours ago he had taken part in his mother’s funeral, but this personal loss did not deter Prime Minister Narendra Modi to continue with his official engagements fro the day.

He virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat express connecting Howrah and New Jalpaiguri and launched several other development projects worth ₹ 7,800 crore in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while condoling Heeraben Modi’s death, preferred to advise the PM to take rest.

BJP leaders hailed PM Modi as a “karmayogi”. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in Kerala the PM had advised all ministers to not cancel their scheduled programmes and return to Delhi only after completing their work.

Home Minister Amit Shah also attended his scheduled programme in Karnataka.

The PM completed the rituals related to his mother’s funeral in Gandhinagar of Gujarat by 9:30 am. He took part in the official work through video conference at 11 am.

“A glorious century rests at the feet of God… In Maa, I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values,” PM Modi posted on Twitter, informing about his mother’s death.
