Poonch Terror Attack: Man Consumes Poison After Called up by Police; Dies

Srinagar: A 35-year-old man named Mukhtar Hussai Shah allegedly consumed poison when he was called up by police for questioning in relation to the Poonch terror attack. He died on Thursday.

The deceased was an inhabitant of Nar village in Poonch district’s Mendhar tehsil. According to police sources, he was not summoned as a suspect. He was not a suspect in the terror attack case but was called for questioning like most of the residents of his village which is located near the ambush site. But the man was stressed by some domestic problems. The police summon perturbed him and he took the drastic decision.

He is alleged to have consumed poison at his home on Tuesday evening a few hours after he was asked to report for interrogation on April 20 in connection to the Poonch terrorist attack. He was admitted to the Government Medical College, Rajouri, where he died on Thursday morning.

The terrorists in the Bhata Dhurian forest of Poonch district ambushed a vehicle of the Indian Army last week. Five jawans were martyred in this terror attack.

Meanwhile, massive search operation continues in Poonch and nearby Rajouri with the help of drones, helicopters, and dog squad to track down the terrorists involved in the Poonch attack.
