Sensex closes above 66,600, Nifty gains 177 Points

Mumbai: The Key domestic share indices ended in GREEN with about a per cent up on Tuesday. The BSE Sensex closed above the 66,600 mark while the NSE Nifty crossed 19,600 level. The Sensex jumped 566 points and settled at 66,079 while the Nifty gained 177 points to close at 19,689.

In the forex market, the rupee closed at 83 rupees and 24 paise against the US dollar.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Gold futures for December contracts were trading around 57,602 rupees per ten grams. Silver futures for December contracts were trading around 68,888 rupees per kilogram when reports last came in.

In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 88 dollars and 24 cents per barrel.
