Ten Students Rag Junior, Force to Utter Religious Slogan

Hyderabad: Ten students ragged a junior student at IBS College in Shankarpally in Rangareddy district. Police have booked a case of attempt to murder as they assaulted the junior and forced him to utter religious slogans.

The victim was identified as Himank Bansal. He was assaulted by the students over his remark in a private text with his friend where he had referred to Prophet Muhammad as a paedophile.

Hemank approached the police stating that the group of students had come to his room, thrashed, abused, and sexually assaulted him. The accused also filmed the assault and circulated it on social media. A few accused can be heard saying, “Beat him till he dies.”

The victim alleged that he sustained injuries due to the attack. The accused have been booked under sections 307 for attempts to murder, 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, 450 for trespass in order to commit an offense, 506 for criminal intimidation, and section 34 for the common intention of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The incident took place on November 1, but it came to light after the video of the victim getting assaulted went viral.
