Trillion Dollar Scams by Previous Govts: PM Modi at CBI’s Diamond Jubilee

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Speaking during the occasion PM Modi said that the previous governments had done trillion-dollar scams. He said,“10 years ago, there was a competition to do more and more corruption. Big scams took place during that time but the accused were not scared because the system stood by them… After 2014, we worked on a mission mode against corruption, black money.”

“India cannot move forward without professional and efficient institutions like the CBI. From bank frauds to wildlife-related frauds, the CBI’s scope of work has increased manifold but the main responsibility of the CBI is to make the country corruption free,” said PM Modi.

He said that the CBI has given hope and strength to the common citizen. People now hold protests to demand a CBI inquiry as the CBI has emerged as a brand for justice, he added.
