UP Woman Wanting Sex Change by Occult Killed by Tantrik

Lucknow: A 30-year-old woman named Priya was allegedly murdered by a Tantrik (sorcerer), who promised to change her gender by occult. The deceased woman wanted to change her gender so that she could continue her relationship with another woman in the Sahajahanpur district.  Priya (30) from the RC Mission police station area had built up a same-sex relationship with Preeti (24) of Puwayan.

Because of their intimate relationship, Preeti was not able to get married. The news of their same-sex relationship had become the talk of the area.

Preeti and her mother Urmila decided to get rid of Priya with the help of a self-proclaimed tantric named Ramnivas of the Mohammadi area. They promised to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to the tantric to kill Priya.

Preeti made Priya believe that the tantric could change her gender through his occult practices. Priya left her home on April 13 and never returned back. Her family filed a missing case on April 18.

A long investigation led to the arrest of Ramnivas, who confessed to the crime during police interrogation. He had taken Priya to a forest on the pretext of “converting her into a man” and slit her throat.

The accused tantrik and Priya’s friend Preeti were arrested on Tuesday.
