Panaji: The Hindi remake of the Odia film “Pratikshya”, which explores the nuances of a father-son relationship, was unveiled by actor Anupam Kher on Wednesday.

Elated by the scheme of things, the director of “Pratikshya,” Anupam Patnaik, remarked that this occasion is significant for them and even more so for the people of Odisha.

The announcement was made during the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Anupam Kher revealed that he will star as the father in the Hindi version of Pratikshya. He further offered Patnaik a token signing amount in exchange for the film’s rights.

It is based on a short story by author Gourahari Das and tells the tale of Sanjay, a young man from a middle-class household who is searching for employment with the government just before his father retires. Given the family’s obligations and the fact that his father, Bipin, has a fatal illness, Bipin is adamant that he finds employment. Sanjay learns about the government’s program of compassionate appointment, under which a relative is given the position of the deceased employee. Sanjay waits impatiently for his father to pass away before realising his unsettling thoughts. It is a movie about families, particularly the complicated bonds between dads and sons.
