Balasore: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Sunday that the Railway Board has recommended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct a thorough investigation into the tragic collision of three trains in the Balasore district, Odisha. The incident, which occurred on Friday night, resulted in the unfortunate loss of over 270 lives.
In an earlier statement, the railway authorities dismissed the possibility of driver error or system malfunction, raising concerns about potential sabotage and manipulation of the electronic interlocking system. Vaishnaw highlighted that the “root cause” of the accident and the individuals responsible for it have been identified.
According to the minister, the accident occurred due to a modification made in the electronic interlocking and point machine. He shared these details with reporters present at the site of the incident in Balasore district.
