Fake Cigarette Manufacturing Unit Busted In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A clandestine fake and sub-standard cigarette manufacturing unit was unearthed and sealed off during a jaint raid by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Info Valley Police of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

According to reports, the factory was operating in the Chhatabar panchayat’s Alakar village. It was producing duplicate cigarettes under the H-10 brand, a Bihar-based cigarette brand.

The copycat cigarettes were apparently made with low-grade materials, which significantly enhance pre-existing threats to life that cigarettes possess.

The duplicate manufacturing unit was busted because of a complaint filed with the IB by the proprietor of the H-10 tobacco company of Bihar.

Cigarettes and gutkha worth lakhs of rupees were seized during the raid.

A man from Ganjam, identified as Raja Rao, has been named as the owner of the duplicate cigarette manufacturing unit. He was arrested.
