Govt Offices, Schools, Colleges In Bhubaneswar To Remain Closed After 1 PM Tomorrow For Prez Visit

Bhubaneswar: In view of the visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu to Odisha, all government offices, schools and colleges coming under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) purview will remain closed after 1 pm on Thursday.

As many as 34 platoons of policemen and around 300 officers will be deployed to provide security to President Droupadi Murmu during her two-day visit to Odisha beginning tomorrow.

“From our side around 34 platoons of force, around 200 SIs & ASIs, 62 ACPs, 22 ADCP rank officers, 4 DCP rank officers-DCP Traffic, DCP Headquarters and DCP Crime, all will be deployed for the President’s security during her two-day visit here,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh talking to newsmen here today.

The DCP said that the guard of honour will be presented to the President on her arrival at the airport here on Thursday morning.

Notably, President Murmu will also be visiting the pilgrim town Puri on November 10.

Murmu is scheduled to offer floral tributes to Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, and garland his statue near Singhadwar at 12 noon on the same day.

Meanwhile, Security arrangements have been tightened for the President’s visit to Puri.

Thereafter, she will reach Bhubaneswar where she will pay her tributes before the statues of prominent freedom fighters and leaders. In the same evening, the President will attend the civic reception to be hosted in her honour at Raj Bhavan Bhubaneswar.

On November 11, 2022, the President will visit Tapoban High School, Government Girls High School Unit-II and Kuntala Kumari Sabat Adivasi Girls Hostel Unit-II in Bhubaneswar and interact with students and teachers. On the same day, she will launch various projects of the Union Ministry of Education from Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
