Meteorologists have warned that due to heavy rains, the water level of other rivers, including Mahanadi, may rise suddenly.

Due to low pressure, there will be heavy rainfall in various rivers of the state and its basins. 20 gates of Hirakud Dam have been opened. Every second 3 lakh 93 thousand 323 cusecs of flood water enter Hirakud, while 3 lakh 40 thousand 890 cusecs of water is taken away from the river through 20 gates. As the water level in the river is nearing the danger mark, there is an increased risk of inundation of the area after the water reaches Hirakud.
