Hockey World Cup 2023 Prep: BMC Bans Road Digging In Bhubaneswar From December 1

Bhubaneswar: Prior to the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, which will be held in the capital city of Odisha, no government organisations or private service providers are allowed to dig up roadways in Bhubaneswar city beginning on December 1.

This was determined at the Hockey World Cup planning conference, which was presided over by Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena on Sunday.

After December 1st, it will not be permitted to dig up roads for any work in the city of Bhubaneswar, and all roads must be repaired at the earliest. The concerned department will need the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) authorization to dig the road in the event of any emergency work. After a thorough inspection, the concerned BMC officer will provide authorization, and officers present in the meeting informed.

A BMC official who attended the meeting also said that WATCO, GAIL, and internet service providers will also be urged not to dig roads.

Priority Road Network will create a special 80 KM of city roads in time for the 2023 Hockey Men’s World Cup.
