Couple Arrested for Murder of Wife’s Lover in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: A couple in Odisha’s Koraput district has been arrested on charges of murdering the wife’s lover. The incident occurred in Anakadeli village under the Machhkund police jurisdiction.

The accused, Rahul Santal, was a tent house employee who had been in a secret relationship with a married woman from the village for nearly a year. When the woman’s husband, Munna Din, discovered the affair, he counselled his wife and advised her to end it. However, Rahul persisted in pursuing the relationship, leading the woman to report his behaviour to her husband.

In response, the couple conspired to kill Rahul. The woman invited him to her house for a meeting and asked him to bring beer. Once he arrived, she laced the beer with rat poison and served it to him. Tragically, Rahul succumbed to the poison, and Munna disposed of his body in an isolated location.

When Rahul failed to return home that night, his family filed a missing person report with the police. An investigation was initiated, and suspicion fell on the woman, who eventually confessed to the crime during questioning. Both the woman and Munna were arrested and presented before the court on Saturday.
