Man Killed In Group Clash; Wife, Daughter Critical In Cuttack Village

Athagarh: A group clash at Mundiasahi under Tigiria police station in Cuttack’s Athagarh area led to the death of a person.

Reportedly, two others were also critically injured and admitted to SCB Medical in Cuttack.

The deceased has been identified as Chintamani Behera (55) while the injured are his wife Rashmita Behera (45) and his daughter Minati Behera (22).

According to sources, the incident took place at around 6 am this morning when Behera along with his wife and daughter was inside his house.

Suddenly, four people from the same locality carrying lethal weapons in their hands entered Behera’s house and attacked him brutally.

On hearing Behera’s scream, his daughter and wife rushed to the spot and tried to stop the miscreants but in vain. Miscreants also attacked the mother-daughter duo and fled the spot leaving them in critical condition.

Following this, neighbours rushed the trio to the local hospital where Behera died while undergoing treatment and the mother-daughter duo was sent to Cuttack SCB Medical as their health condition deteriorated.

Police suspect that this incident is an outcome of past rivalry. Meanwhile, they have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Further investigations are underway.
