All-Women Crew Spl Train from Vizag to Rayagada Flagged Off to Mark Women’s Day

Visakhapatnam: A special train with an all-women crew was flagged off from Visakhapatnam on Wednesday to mark International Women’s Day. This train will travel to Rayagada in Odisha.

This special train was flagged off at the Visakhapatnam station by Parijata Satpathy, President of East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (ECoRWWO), Waltair division. Vice President of ECoRWWO Kavita Gupta, Secretary Priyanka Sridevi, and other executive members of ECoRWWO also took part in the ceremony.

Visakhapatnam-Rayagada special is manned on this Wednesday by women employees and the entire staff at Visakhapatnam railway station in operations, commercial, RPF were also women.

Three women who drove the train were loco pilot Sahana Kumari, Assistant loco pilot K.Nagamani and train manager M.Kalyanni. The four ticket checking staffs were S. Ambili, G.Atchutamba, K. Satoshi Rao, and D Radha.

Waltair Division formed exclusive women’s teams at Loco Sheds that are engaged in the maintenance of crucial parts of Locos and also operates an exclusive women’s security team, ‘Meri Saheli’ which takes care of women passengers on trains or at the station.
