Villagers Hack Man to Death over Allegations of Sorcery in Koraput

Koraput: In a tragic incident in Dhanibalasa village under Boipariguda police limits of Koraput, a man named Madadev Khara (50) was allegedly hacked to death, while his wife, Manguli, sustained injuries. The incident occurred due to alleged sorcery accusations made by some co-villagers.

The four accused individuals involved in the crime have been identified as Hari Khara, Dambaru Khara, Arjun Khara, and Adia Khila from Dhanibalasa village.

Upon receiving the FIR lodged by Manguli, the Boipariguda police promptly reached the crime scene, seized Madadev’s body, and initiated an investigation into the matter.

The unfortunate series of events unfolded after the death of Balaram Khara, a villager from Dhanibalasa, the previous day. The villagers suspected Madadev of practising witchcraft, blaming him for the recent untimely deaths of five village residents. Consequently, a meeting was held where Madadev was present.

During the meeting, heated arguments broke out between Madadev and the locals. The situation escalated when the four accused individuals chased Madadev in a fit of rage. Despite his attempts to escape, Madadev was caught inside his house and brutally killed with an axe.

Following the crime, the four accused individuals quickly fled the scene. The authorities have assured that the culprits will be apprehended soon. It is worth noting that Mahadev’s daughter and son-in-law also suffered injuries during the attack.
