Mayurbhanj Horror: ASI and Home Guard Arrested For Allegedly Raping Minors

Mayurbhanj: In a troubling development under the jurisdiction of the Jamda police in Mayurbhanj district, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) named Ananda Majhi and a Home Guard named Debananda Patra were arrested on allegations of rape. These accused individuals had reportedly committed separate sexual assaults on minor girls.

ASI Ananda Majhi, hailing from Keonjhar district and residing in the block quarters, exploited the vulnerability of a 17-year-old domestic helper who worked at his residence. The minor victim revealed her ordeal to a relative, leading to the filing of an FIR on October 14.

Debananda Patra, in addition to his role as a Home Guard, is said to practice sorcery. He is accused of sexually assaulting a minor on October 13 by luring her to a secluded spot under the guise of helping an ailing elderly woman. This incident came to light when the survivor’s family learned of it, and an FIR was lodged on October 15.

The Jamda police have registered separate cases against Ananda and Debananda, identified as Case No-83/2023 and Case No-82/2023, respectively.

Both accused individuals were presented in a local court.
