Odia Jatra Actor Daitari Panda Seeks Atonement at Jagannath Temple for Odisha CM Comparison

Bhubaneswar: Daitari Panda, a prominent figure in Odia Jatra theatre, issued an apology today at the Jagannath Temple in Puri for his previous controversial remarks about the deity. His comments, which compared the Odisha Chief Minister to Lord Jagannath, sparked widespread criticism from various quarters.

According to sources, Panda visited the Singhadwar police station earlier today before heading to the 12th Century shrine to express regret for his remarks. He clarified that his statements were made impulsively and without malicious intent.

Panda’s apology comes amidst ongoing social media backlash, notably from fellow Jatra actor Rani Panda, who criticized him publicly. In response, Panda offered his wishes, stating, “May Lord Jagannath bless the girl.”

The actor’s actions reflect a desire to mend fences following the controversy that ensued from his earlier statements.
