Odisha CM Lays Foundation For Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital At NISER Campus

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation for the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Jatani, near Bhubaneswar. The state-of-the-art facility, slated for full commissioning by December 2025, will offer world-class cancer care, research, and support services.

With 200 beds, the HBCHRC aims to alleviate the need for cancer patients in Odisha and neighboring states to travel to major cities like Mumbai for treatment.

The state government plans to provide essential infrastructure such as access roads, transportation, bus stops, and a fire station. The cancer hospital will be empanelled under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, ensuring free healthcare for Odisha residents.

The government has allocated over 65 acres of land and Rs 150 crore in financial assistance for the establishment of a cutting-edge Medical Cyclotron facility.

The HBCHRC will house advanced cancer treatment technologies, including radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and stem cell transplants. It will also serve as a hub for cancer research.

Community outreach programs in the Khurdha district will focus on raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection.

The HBCHRC is a significant milestone in Odisha’s healthcare journey, furthering the state’s mission of improving the lives of cancer-affected individuals and families.
