Odisha Braces for Prolonged Cold Spell with Persistent Fog: IMD Forecast

Bhubaneswar: In the midst of a chilling cold wave in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts unchanging weather conditions for the next two days. Expect very cold nights accompanied by shallow to moderate fog in various parts of the state, disrupting normal life.

Dense fog has already been reported in Sundargarh, Koraput, and Kandhamal districts, with shallow fog in Kalahandi and Keonjhar. Minimum temperatures have significantly dropped in south and interior Odisha, remaining markedly below normal in some interior areas and appreciably below normal in coastal regions.

Paralakhemundi recorded the day’s highest temperature at 29.6°C, while G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district experienced the lowest minimum temperature of 7.0°C.

– Dry weather expected across Odisha.

– Shallow to moderate fog likely in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Rayagada, Koraput, and Gajapati.

Day 2 (From 0830 hrs IST of 21.12.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 22.12.2023):

– Continued dry weather across Odisha.

– Shallow to moderate fog expected in interior Odisha.

Day 3 (From 0830 hrs IST of 22.12.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 23.12.2023):

– Dry conditions persist in Odisha.

– Shallow to moderate fog expected in interior Odisha.
