Interstate Drug Trafficker Nabbed in Odisha with 43 Quintals of Marijuana

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police arrested Sarat Kumar Dey, a notorious inter-state cannabis smuggler, on Thursday. Dey is known for trafficking marijuana across multiple states, including Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

In a significant case, the STF seized 43 quintals of marijuana from a truck in Gajapati district. The operation involved inter-state drug traffickers, with Dey identified as the mastermind and primary accused. The STF also confiscated Rs 1,25,000 and other incriminating materials from the suspect.

Dey has a history of involvement in various cases related to narcotics, robbery, and rioting. He had even managed to escape police custody at one point. His father, Ekadashi Dey, is also a convicted cannabis peddler who is currently serving a ten-year sentence in Puri jail.

The STF is investigating the matter further.
