Odisha STF Nabs Notorious Drug Peddler, Seizes Over 300 Kg Ganja in Kandhamal

Phulbani: In a major haul, the Odisha Police’s Special Task Force (STF) apprehended a notorious drug peddler and seized a staggering 303 kg of ganja near Gadiapada village in Kandhamal district on Monday.

The accused, identified as 58-year-old Kishore Chandra Mallik, was nabbed following a meticulously planned raid based on credible intelligence about his involvement in the illegal narcotics trade. During the operation, STF personnel recovered the massive quantity of ganja, along with other incriminating materials, from Mallik’s possession.

This seizure adds to the STF’s growing list of successes in tackling the drug menace in Odisha. Since 2020, the task force has seized over 74 kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 grams of cocaine, a staggering 120 quintals of marijuana (cannabis), and 3 kg 630 grams of opium. Additionally, they have apprehended over 186 drug peddlers, disrupting major supply chains and sending a strong message to those involved in this illegal activity.
