Over 20 Kg Ganja Recovered from Submerged Car in Odisha’s Balangir, Police Hunt for Smugglers

Balangir: A submerged car pulled from a ditch near Bhaler village in Balangir district on Tuesday revealed a hidden stash of 20 kilograms of ganja, sparking a police investigation.

Alerted by locals who spotted the abandoned vehicle, police used a crane to retrieve the car. Upon closer inspection, officers discovered bags containing the illegal substance inside.

Initial theories suggest the car, bearing registration number OD 26 9099, might have met with an accident before being dumped in the ditch. The occupants are suspected to have fled the scene.

However, some locals believe the car’s submersion was a deliberate attempt to dispose of the ganja.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and police officials remain tight-lipped about the case.

This incident comes on the heels of another successful ganja bust in Sambalpur district, where Rairakhol police apprehended two individuals following a dramatic chase involving a fleeing SUV packed with 57 kg of the contraband.
