RPF Returns Abandoned Bag with ₹15 Lakh Jewellery to Passenger in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has earned praise for its swift and honest actions in recovering a bag containing jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh and returning it to the rightful owners in Odisha’s Balangir.

Shyama and Angshu, travelling from Howrah to Rourkela for a wedding by Samleswari Express, inadvertently left their bag behind while deboarding at Rourkela. However, thanks to the vigilance of an RPF officer, their precious belongings were promptly recovered and returned.

The officer, who boarded the train in Jharsuguda, spotted the abandoned bag during a routine check in Balangir. Alerting the station authorities, the RPF launched an investigation to trace the owners. By meticulously examining passenger details, they managed to contact Shyama and Angshu, informing them about the recovered bag.

The bag, according to an RPF spokesperson, contained valuable diamonds and Malabar gold coins. Overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, the couple expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the RPF’s swift action. “We are speechless! We cannot thank them enough for finding our bag and informing us even before we realized it was missing,” Shyama exclaimed.
