IMD Issues Yellow Warning For Hailstorm, Thundershowers In Odisha On March 19

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating potential hailstorms, rainfall, and lightning accompanied by gusty winds in Odisha. The IMD predicts these conditions to occur on March 19, particularly in districts spanning from South Odisha to sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

According to the IMD’s mid-day bulletin, temperatures have notably dropped in certain areas of Odisha. Maximum temperatures have fallen appreciably in some districts, particularly in Coastal Odisha and certain areas of Interior Odisha. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable over the next two days, followed by a gradual decline of 2°C to 3°C in many places across the state.

On Sunday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in several districts including Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri, while dry weather is anticipated in other regions. A yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning in various districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Cuttack.

Looking ahead to Monday, similar weather conditions are expected in South Odisha, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi, with thunderstorms predicted in districts like Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda.
