Online Medical Certificates Compulsory For DL In Odisha From Jan 26

Cuttack: A medical certificate in Form 1A is required for applicants who are over 40 and seeking a new licence or a renewal of an existing one, per the provisions of the CMVR, 1989.

It is also necessary for everyone to apply for a new driving licence.

Currently, while submitting an online application, applicants must obtain a manual doctor’s certificate in paper format and upload it to the SARATHI site. The accuracy of the medical certificate cannot be verified throughout this process, and fake doctor certificates are also uploaded.

STA Odisha has built a new online doctor registration platform where about 167 MBBS doctors with MCI registration have registered in order to increase transparency and ensure correct medical tests are performed by genuine doctors (MBBS degree holders with registration under MCI).

They will issue medical certificates to DL and LL applicants through the online SARATHI portal and no uploading of form 1A would be required. The details of such doctors are available on the web portal of SARATHI.

For DL and LL applicants who are 40 years of age or older, the online issue of the medical certificates will be mandatory starting on January 26.
