Police ASI Critical After Allegedly Attacked By Villagers In Odisha’s Boudh

Boudh: In a distressing incident, Kumuda Bhoi, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) stationed at Manamunda police station in Odisha’s Boudh district, is currently in critical condition following an alleged attack by locals in Dapala village last night.

The incident unfolded when Bhoi responded to a kidnapping complaint in the area, arriving at the village in a PCR van accompanied by two home guards. Approximately 10 unidentified individuals intercepted the vehicle and assaulted the ASI with lathis, while the two home guards and the van driver managed to escape.

Suffering severe injuries, Bhoi was rushed to Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital and later transferred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir. Due to the worsening of his condition, he was further moved to Vikash Hospital in Bargarh.

Police have initiated a case in connection with the attack and commenced an investigation. Police are actively working to locate and apprehend the assailants. The motive behind the assault remains uncertain.
