SUV Dragged for 30 Metres in Near-Miss with Goods Train Near Paradip Port’s Restricted Zone

Paradip: An SUV narrowly avoided a collision with a coal-laden goods train at Paradip Port in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. The incident occurred near the Mechanical Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) canteen.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the SUV had ventured onto the railway track when the collision occurred. The impact caused the SUV to be dragged around 30 metres by the slow-moving goods train. Fortunately, the occupants of the SUV emerged unscathed, although the vehicle sustained noticeable damage.

Authorities suspect the mishap was caused by the SUV driver’s negligence. The SUV was transporting personnel from a private company at the time of the incident. Senior officials from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Paradip Port’s traffic department promptly visited the scene to coordinate track clearance arrangements.
