‘She’s Like My Mother Too’: Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem Reciprocates Neeraj Chopra’s Mother’s Sentiments

Islamabad: Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Neeraj Chopra’s mother Saroj Devi, following his historic gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After Nadeem’s victory in the javelin throw, where he bested Chopra, Saroj Devi garnered attention for her warm remarks, calling Nadeem “like her son.”

Upon his return to Pakistan, Nadeem responded to Saroj Devi’s kind words, winning over many hearts. In a statement to the Pakistani media, Nadeem said, “A mother is a mother to everyone, and she prays for all. I’m thankful to Neeraj Chopra’s mother; she’s like my mother too. Her prayers were with us, and we were just two South Asian athletes competing on the world stage.”

Nadeem’s mother, Raziah Parveen, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “He (Neeraj) is like a son to me. He’s not just Nadeem’s friend but like a brother as well.”
