London: Despite India’s valiant fightback on Day 3 of the World Test Championship Final, Australia still hold a significant lead.

India were bowled out for 296 in their first innings, giving Australia a first-innings lead of 173. But India fought back in their second innings, containing the Aussies to 123-4 at stumps on Day 3.

Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur put on 109 runs for the sixth wicket to help India avoid the follow-on. Rahane smashed an attacking 89 (129) while Thakur scored 51 (109).

Australia were 123-4 in their second innings at stumps, with Marnus Labuschagne on 41 and Cameron Green on 8.

Australia still hold a lead of 296 runs, but India will be hoping to make further inroads into Australia’s batting order on Day 4.
