New Delhi: Smriti Mandhana was declared as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023.
RCB’s official social media handles shared a video featuring senior batter Kohli and the franchise men’s team’s current captain, Du Plessis. In the video, the duo can be seen revealing the name of the RCB women’s team captain.

Smriti Mandhana expressed her joy after becoming the captain of RCB’s women’s team. She promised to give her 100 percent to try and bring glory to the franchise.
“It’s such a great feeling to see Virat and Faf speak so much about leading RCB. I would like to thank RCB management for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am looking forward to receiving all the love and support from your fans who I am told is the best in the world. And I promise you to give my 100 percent to lead RCB to success in WPL,” Mandhana said.
Mandhana was the first player to go under the hammer at the WPL auction in Mumbai on February 13. She was also the most expensive player, as RCB paid Rs 3.4 crores to sign her.
