Man Kills Wife to Perform Tantric Ritual With Her Naked Corpse in Dhenkanal Dist

Dhenkanal: Because of superstitious belief in tantric practices, a man killed his wife to perform rituals with her nude corpse in the Parjang police station limits of the Dhenkanal district. The accused from Ambapalas village was taken into custody by police on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Mamata Khatua of Ambapalas village. She was allegedly murdered by her superstitious husband Astama Khatua at their home. According to locals, the killer-husband had planned to perform some tantric rituals with her nude body on Shivaratri night today.

Astama’s brother Shiva Khatua said is said to have confessed before police that Astama was involved in tantric practices. But Shiva expressed that he did not know anything about the killing of his sister-in-law by his brother.

Sources said Astama was Mamata’s second husband. She had left her first husband and three children to elope with Astama. The accused has however denied his involvement in the murder of his wife.

According to initial findings, the couple used to fight regularly. An investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind this killing. The Parjang police have reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
