Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Extends Training Invitation to Manipur Athletes Amid Unrest

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has extended an invitation to sportspersons from Manipur, offering them the opportunity to train in his state. With the upcoming Khelo India and Asian Games, Chief Minister Stalin expressed concern over the current situation in Manipur, stating that it might not be conducive for the athletes’ training.

In response, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has assured all necessary facilities for the Manipur sportspersons in Tamil Nadu. The state, which will host the 2024 Khelo India Games, is ready to provide high-quality training amenities.

Acknowledging Manipur’s reputation for producing champions, especially women athletes, Tamil Nadu aims to support them during these challenging times. Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the Tamil culture of love and care, citing the saying “Yaathum oorey, Yaavarum kelir,” meaning “every place is mine, all people are my relatives,” as the guiding principle behind the directive.
