Sudarsan Pattnaik Appeals for Opening Additional Door at Puri Srimandir, Citing Emotional Connection

Puri: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, a member of the Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee, has fervently appealed for the opening of an additional door of the Puri Srimandir for the local residents. Emphasizing the emotional bond between the people of Puri and Lord Jagannath, he specifically called for the opening of one more ‘dwara’ alongside the ‘Singhadwara’ (Lion’s Gate).

To address this matter, a sub-committee has been formed, comprising members of Chhatisa Nijog, to discuss the possibility of opening other ‘dwaras’ of the temple. Pattnaik urged the administration to consider the sentiments of the local community and promptly open at least one door for them, considering that during the Covid-19 pandemic, three doors of the Srimandir remained closed for devotees.

If the request goes unheeded, Pattnaik expressed his intention to stage a sit-in protest in front of the ‘Paschimadwara’ of the temple from tomorrow, where he will offer his prayers to Lord Jagannath. He has already communicated his plea to the administration and hopes for a positive response.
