Wimbledon to Honour Roger Federer’s Tennis Legacy with Special Ceremony

London: Wimbledon will hold a special ceremony on Centre Court to celebrate Roger Federer’s remarkable achievements on the second day of the championships. The Swiss tennis legend, who retired in September last year, will revisit the grounds where he claimed numerous victories and be honoured before the start of play.

All England Club’s CEO, Sally Bolton, expressed her excitement, stating that they will have a unique moment to commemorate Federer as the player with the most gentlemen’s singles titles at Wimbledon. The event aims to pay tribute to his outstanding career and express gratitude for the memories he has created.

Despite maintaining a low profile in tennis since his farewell at the Laver Cup in London, Federer received a similar tribute at the Halle grass-court event in Germany last month.

In addition to Federer, Serena Williams, who recently bid farewell at the US Open, was also extended an invitation to Wimbledon. However, due to her pregnancy, Williams was unable to attend. Bolton conveyed their good wishes for her pregnancy and expressed hope to see her at Wimbledon next year.

This year, Novak Djokovic is the frontrunner to match Federer’s record of eight men’s singles titles at Wimbledon and secure his 24th Grand Slam title.
