12 Distillery Workers Killed as Bus Falls into Ditch in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: At least 12 workers of a distillery were killed and several others were injured after a bus carrying the workers fell into a ditch in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district on Tuesday night.

The bus was transporting around 40 employees of the distillery when it overturned and fell into the 50 feet deep ditch.

The workers in the ill-fated bus were returning home after their shift when the accident happened.

Around 14 people injured in the accident have been admitted to different hospitals and their conditions are said to be stable. A magisterial probe will be carried out to find out the cause of the accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the accident and wished a speedy recovery to those who got injured.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also said adequate arrangements have been made for the treatment of those injured in the accident and wished them a speedy recovery.
