Govt Teacher Transferred For Taking Part in Political Activity in Boudh Dist

Boudh: A teacher of a government school, identified as Govardhan Pradhan, was transferred with immediate effect in Boudh district as he was allegedly involved in political activity related to the elections.

Pradhan was posted at the Tribal High School in Kantamal constituency. He has been transferred to Mathura Panchayat High School in Boudh constituency with an order that he should join his new place of posting with immediate effect.

When allegations of his involvement in political activities came to fore, the District Collector, who is also the District Election Officer, on April 13 directed the District Education Officer to take action against the accused teacher.

A few days back, another teacher of a government school in Boudh, Sanghamitra Mallick was suspended for participating in the election campaign rally of a political party.

The Boudh Collector and District Election Officer took this disciplinary action against the erring assistant teacher of Government Nodal High School, Dahya. Sanghamitra Mallick was put under suspension with immediate effect.

She was alleged of violating the model code of conduct of the Election Commission of India.

As per the ECI order dated March 15, 2024, and Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, no government servant shall be a member of or be otherwise associated with any political or communal party or any organisation which takes part in politics or communal activities, nor shall he/she take part or subscribe in aid of assist in any other manner, any political or communal movement or activity.
