Two Female Maoists from Chhattisgarh Surrender in Odisha

Boudh: Two female Maoists hailing from Chhattisgarh surrendered before Odisha Police in Boudh district to join the mainstream. They surrendered before the IGP (Southern Range) Jai Narayan Pankaj.

The two surrendered Maoists were Manisha Thati and Champa Koram from Bijapur district in neighbouring Chhattisgarh. They were members of the Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) organization. They were active in Maoist activities for the last five years.

Both surrendered female Maoists were disturbed and frustrated by the unethical activities in Maoist organisation that included sexual harassment of female cadres, extortions, and enrolment of youngsters into the violent outfit through false promises and propaganda.

The surrendered Maoists also revealed the involvement of the Maoist organisation in the narcotics trade.
