Gold Worth Rs 70.50 Lakh Recovered from Man’s Rectum at Trichy Airport

Chennai: Around 977 grams of gold worth Rs 70.58 lakh was found hidden in the rectum of a passenger arriving from Dubai by the personnel of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Tiruchirappalli airport in Tamil Nadu.

The seized gold was hidden in three packets in the rectum of the passenger.

The passenger was travelling from Dubai to Trichy on the Air India Express. The passenger was arrested and further investigation is underway.

In March 2024, the Air Intelligence Unit officials at Tiruchirappalli airport seized 410 grams of gold from a passenger arriving from Singapore.
