10 Kg Landmine Seized from Railway Track in Sundargarh Dist

Sundargarh: A landmine weighing more than 10 kg was recovered by the personnel of the District Volunteer Force (DVF) on Friday from the railway track near Topadihi under Koida police station limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

Locals came across the IED on the railway tracks and informed the police. The DVF and police personnel reached the spot and a bomb disposal squad defused the landmine safely.

Search operations were initiated in the area as where the IED was located in a Maoist-prone region in the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

Railways also alerted the station masters of Topadihi and neighbouring railway stations regarding the possibility of similar Maoist attempts in the region.

But as per reports, the local SDPO has opined that the seized landmine was a very old one and did not pose much danger.
