27 Killed as Ukraine Shells Russian-Controlled Donetsk

At least twenty-seven persons died and 20 others were injured when Ukrainian forces shelled the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine

The Russian-appointed head of the Donetsk region Denis Pushilin confirmed this Ukrainian attack on Sunday.

Donetsk’s Russia-appointed mayor, Alexei Kulemzin said, Ukrainian forces bombarded a market area. There was no immediate statement from Ukraine.

The Russian foreign ministry termed the attack “a barbaric act of terrorism” committed by Ukraine “with the use of weapons supplied by the West”.

On Sunday Russia claimed that Russian forces had taken control of the village of Krokhmalne in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region.
