2 of 4 Kerala Youths Fighting for Russian Army Against Ukraine to Return Soon: Union Minister

New Delhi: Two of the four Kerala-based youths who were recruited by Russia through private agencies to fight in the war against Ukraine after being recruited into the Russian army will soon return home, said Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs V Muraleedharan.

The minister on Tuesday evening said that the Indian Embassy was readying their travel documents so that they can return back to India from Russia.

According to the relatives of these men stranded in Russia, they were taken to Russia by a recruitment agency that lured through the promise of a salary of Rs 2.5 lakh per month.

The authorities have started an investigation into agencies that recruited Indians to go to war-torn Ukraine by luring them of lucrative jobs in Russia.

Muraleedharan said that the Central government was taking all possible efforts to bring back all Indians stranded in the conflict zone, and legal action will be taken against the agencies that recruited them.
