69-Yr-Old Man Escapes Death While Taking Selfie, Rescued from Mahanadi River in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: While taking a selfie on his mobile phone, a 69-year-old man fell into the Mahanadi river from Chaunrapur bridge in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday.

Luckily he was rescued by the Fire Services personnel from the fast-flowing river near Samalei Temple ghat.

The rescued person was identified as Surendra Mohan Mishra.

Initially, eyewitnesses thought he attempted suicide.

But the rescued man revealed that his leg slipped while he was taking a selfie on the bridge and he fell into the river. Luckily he could grab a bunch of grass and managed to stay afloat till Fire Services personnel rescued him.
