9-Yr-Old Boy Kidnapped, Murdered for Rs 23 Lakh in Maharashtra

Mumbai: A 9-year-old boy was kidnapped after he finished his evening prayers at his local mosque in the Thane area of Maharashtra. He was kidnapped by a local tailor, was killed, put in a sack and hid in the latter’s backyard.

According to the police, the accused, Salman Maulvi, resorted to this crime to arrange money to build a new house by extorting a ransom of Rs 23 lakh from the parents of the boy. The victim named Ibad did not return home after evening prayers. Later Ibad’s father, Muddasir, received a call demanding the Rs 23 lakh ransom for his son’s safe return.

The villagers and local police searched for the missing child.

The kidnapper, sensing the mounting pressure, attempted to evade capture by changing SIM cards in his mobile phone.

On Monday afternoon, the police tracked the location of Salman’s residence and unearthed Ibad’s stuffed in a sack, hidden behind the house.

The accused was arrested by the police. Along with him, Safuan Maulvi, the brother of the prime accused was also arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder.
