Bangladesh General Elections on January 7

The Bangladesh Election Commission on Wednesday announced that the 12th general election will be held in the country on January 7.

Kazi Habibul Awal, chief election commissioner of Bangladesh declared that the last date of submission of nomination papers is November 30, while the scrutiny of the papers will be conducted between December 1 and 4 and the final date for the withdrawal of candidature will be December 17.

The counting of votes will start immediately after the polls on January 7.

The chief election commissioner of Bangladesh has invited all political parties to take part in the elections.

Bangladesh Opposition parties were demanding a caretaker government for the conduct of the polls.
