Bangladesh Cricket Board Served Legal Notice Demanding Shakib Al Hasan’s Immediate Ban

In a shocking development, veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been named in a murder case related to the ongoing protests in Bangladesh. The case, filed by Rafiqul Islam at the Adabor police station in Dhaka, accuses Shakib as the 28th suspect in the murder of Islam’s son, Rubel, who was killed on August 7.

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also among the 154 individuals listed in the case.

Shakib is currently in Rawalpindi as a member of the Test team against Pakistan. However, Rafiqul Islam’s legal team has called for Shakib’s immediate removal from the series and has issued a legal notice to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), demanding a ban on Shakib from all cricket activities.

BCB president Faruque Ahmed stated that a decision regarding Shakib’s future would be made after the conclusion of the ongoing Test. “We have not yet received any legal notice. Once we do, and after the Test match concludes, we will sit down and decide on the matter,” Faruque told reporters.

He further mentioned that the BCB would use the break between the first and second Tests, with the latter scheduled for August 30, to evaluate the situation and decide on any potential action against Shakib.
