Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader’s Murder: Accused’s Bodyguard Arrested

Mumbai: Mumbai Police arrested a bodyguard associated with accused Mauris Noronha in connection with the murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar. The bodyguard, identified as Amarendra Mishra, was arrested under the Arms Act after the crime branch detained him for questioning earlier in the day.

Mishra was booked under Section 29 (B) for allegedly providing a weapon to someone without verifying their legal permission to possess it, according to an official statement. The investigation revealed that Noronha, a local businessman and social worker, used a pistol owned by Mishra to fatally shoot Ghosalkar during a Facebook Live event in suburban Borivali (West) before taking his own life.

Statements from Noronha’s family members, including his wife, indicated that he harboured animosity towards Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of former MLA Vinod Ghosalkar and a staunch supporter of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena (UBT). Noronha, who had political ambitions, had been previously arrested in a rape case and had spent approximately five months in custody. His wife informed the police that Noronha believed Ghosalkar had falsely accused him in the rape case, leading to a feud between them.
